My Story
Momolu S.K. Stewart is a former juvenile lifer who gained his freedom through the Incarceration Reduction Amendment Act (IRAA), a recent law enacted in Washington, D.C. Among those who supported him was Kim Kardashian, whose letter of support played a beneficial role in his case. On October 7, 2019, Momolu was released from prison.
Since his release, Momolu has performed at Howard University's homecoming and Kanye West's Sunday Service, and has spoken at institutions like Georgetown University, George Washington University, and Catholic University. He paid tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the National Cathedral on January 17, 2020.
As a self-employed individual, Momolu uses his company, N.E.E.D., to connect with young people facing challenges. He also runs a nonprofit, the Rites of Passage Organization. A multi-dimensional artist, he expresses his experiences through rap to reach those in similar situations. He released his album "FREEDOM OR DEATH" on October 7, 2024, and collaborated with Halim A. Flowers on another album released on January 15, 2025.
Ultimately, Momolu is a motivational speaker, youth activist, violence interrupter, artist, and man of faith. He believes his life is a testament to his purpose of rebuilding what he once helped to destroy. For speaking engagements, performances, and more, please book here.
There are two types of freedom.
There is Physical freedom and there is the mental freedom.
Once we start to make certain choices, we can lose our physical freedom.

i try to let them know they always have a choice.

I am a renegade artist, navigating multidimensional spheres to see beyond social conformity. My imagination paints the beauty of love in a society conditioned by fear.
At sixteen, I was sentenced to two life terms plus 75 years. For 23 years, I was moved around like cattle, unable to see my mother and sisters. I needed a way to express hope in a hopeless place, and art became my therapy. It transformed my life and brought peace despite my surroundings.
Today, I am a visual artist, spoken word artist, author, designer, and motivational speaker. I use various art forms to express myself and challenge injustice.
I went out on a limb and wrote her a
letter. I felt that if she was as genuine as she
seemed to be and if I spoke from my heart,
then it would touch her heart.
